"We decided to commit to Kindermusik after reading about all of the benefits of early music exposure to children. We have a limited music background, but really enjoyed going to class with our kids when they were little and love watching them learn how to play an instrument as they get older. Greta is amazing with kids!" Parents of Sophia, Jonah and Ruby

Classes for Children, Birth thru 8 years

The Village Foundations classes (birth - 23 months) are for babies/toddlers with their parents/caregivers. Classes meet weekly to sing, dance and play instruments. The overall goal is to gently stimulate brain development with music and play activities. Classes also encourage parent-child bonding, and help parents connect with other parents of little ones.

Class times offered:  Sunday 5:00-5:45 pm,

Wednesday 10:00-10:45 AMand Thursday 4:15-5:00 pm.

Our Time Level 2 classes are for children ages 2 - 3.75 yrs with a parent/caregiver. Classes meet weekly to sing, dance, play instruments and enjoy music for relaxation as well. Music and language are both based on patterns, so this class nurtures them simultaneously. Children also practice early social skills, such as turn-taking, following directions, and focusing on a teacher -- without even realizing it. To them, it is just fun!

Class times offered:  Sunday 4:00-4:45 pm, Tuesday 5:15-6:00 pm,

Wednesday 11:00 -11:45 AM, Thursday 10:00-10:45 AM,

Thursday 11:00-11:45 AM, and Thursday 5:15-6:00 pm.

Kindermusik Imagine That Level 3 classes are for children ages 4 - 5 years, who are in preschool. Children play, listen, sing, and create music for 30 minutes with their teacher. Parents join their students for 15 minutes at the end of class for partner activities. This is a critical age for creative thinking and classes include lots of imaginative play through our music activities. It also creates opportunities for the children to practice the social skills necessary for success in the school years ahead.

Classes offered:  Sunday 3:00-3:45 pm, Monday 5:15-6:00 pm,

Tuesday 11:00-11:45 AM, and Wednesday 1:00-1:45 pm.

Kindermusik for the Young Child classes meet weekly after school for First and Second Graders. These lessons are sequential and are like a Music Appreciation class for elementary students. The children learn to read music, play the glockenspiel, dulcimer, and recorder, learn about famous composers, and watch an opera and a ballet. They also learn about music in other countries/cultures, as well as a brief history of American music. Upon graduation, these children are prepared for private music or piano lessons. Kindermusik for the Young Child builds confidence in a child's own music skills and develops pride in what they can create musically.

What level of class is best for MY child?

Children enjoy feeling successful and being the ‘oldest’ in class for at least a little while, so we would encourage you to stay in the younger level unless your child’s birthday is BEFORE September 15th. For example, if your child turns 2 yrs on Sept. 1, then plan to join the Our Time Level 2 class for the fall semester. However, if your child turns 2 yrs on Sept. 30, then enjoy the Village Foundations class until next spring or fall. The same guidelines also work for planning the move up from the Our Time Level 2 class and into the Imagine That Level 3 class, using the child’s 4-yr birthday. Then your child will be ready for the Young Child Levels 4 & 5 class as they start Kindergarten. There are 2 years of curricula for each level so you will not repeat a unit before moving up.

IF we see that your child NEEDS to move up, we can always work around that. These guidelines work well for most children, in most situations. However, we are always happy to visit with you privately about the best level and experience for your child and family situation.

Our goal is to maximize the growth and development of each child during these critically important years of birth to age 7.  Music provides a joyful vehicle and the parent participation creates a perfect atmosphere to nurture each child during this MAGICAL time.
